ABOUT THE COURSE

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is an educational program that introduces the concepts and basic skills of neonatal resuscitation. The NRP 7th Edition Provider course assesses knowledge of the causes, prevention, management of mild to severe neonatal asphyxia. Completion of this activity does not imply that an individuals has the competence to perform neonatal resuscitation. To obtain an NRP Provider Card, an individual must successfully complete the NRP 7th Edition Provider Course components: NRP 7th Edition Online Examination, eSimulation, and successfully participate in skills and simulation review and testing under the guidance of an NRP Instructor. The NRP Provider Card requires renewal every two years. CE credit is available and can be earned once every two years for successful study of the NRP Materials and completion of the NRP 7th Edition Provider Exam, eSimulation cases, and the NRP 7th Edition Provider post-exam/eSimulation evaluation.

New in the 7th edition!
  • Text updated to reflect the latest 2015 AAP/AHA Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care of the Neonate
  • Two new chapters added covering preparing for resuscitation and post-resuscitation care
  • 140 new full-color photographs replacing most line drawings

  • Instructor-learner contact is focused on interactive learning, immersive simulation, and constructive debriefing. The course consists of the Performance Skills Station, an Integrated Skills Station, and Simulation and Debriefing.

    COURSE COMPLETION

  • Participants need to self-study the 7th Edition NRP Textbook
  • Participants need to pass the NRP online exam and complete the eSimulation prior to the course
  • A printout of the successful online completion must be brought to the course (online testing is to be completed no more than 90 days prior to attending the course)

    OBJECTIVES

Following this program the participants can be expected to:
1.Recognize the principles of neonatal resuscitation
2.Identify the need for resuscitation and how to provide initial steps of resuscitation
3.Identify the knowledge and equipment essential to determine and provide positive pressure ventilation
4.State the knowledge and skills essential to provide chest compressions during neonatal resuscitation
5.Name the indications and skills needed to provide endotracheal intubation during neonatal resuscitation
6.Define the scope and practice of use of medications during neonatal resuscitation
7.Reveiw specials situation in neonatal resuscitation; Translate these skills and knowledge for use as needed outside the delivery room
8.Differentiate the indication and skills required in neonatal resuscitation for a preterm delivery
9.Demonstrate cognitive knowledge of principles of neonatal resuscitation via completion of eSimulation cases (Minimum 3 of 5)
