ABOUT THE TRAINING
When a nurse has completed Initial Coach Training, the Coach must attend a 1-hour recertification training every 2 years (please note new change to coach recertification) to use for the RNPDP. The new change was effective November 1, 2014
It is the responsibility of the Coach to attend a quarterly class prior to their RNPDP due date. Initial Coach Training must be approved by the Coaches Clinical Supervisor.
OBJECTIVES
Following this program, the participants can be expected to:
Describe the role and responsibilities of the coach Discuss essential elements of transition to practice for a new RN resident Review principles of teaching/learning and generational issues Recognize how to provide feedback to promote teaching/ learning, critical thinking and motivation Describe Patricia Benner's practice levels: Novice to Expert Discuss concepts of delegation and professional accountability Describe techniques for conflict resolution and the importance of evaluation and feedback Identify characteristics of different personality styles and how to apply these to the coaching experience

HaysMedicalCenter is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. The course offering is approved for 2.0 contact hour applicable for RN or LPN re-licensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing Approved Provider Number: LT0021-1138.
