GOAL
The goal of the Stroke Case Studies will be to create an open forum for the discussion of stroke care and outcomes at HaysMed.

OBJECTIVES
Following this program, the participants can be expected to:
  • Discuss the importance of large vessel identification and treatment in acute ischemic stroke.
  • Review AHA acute stroke guidelines related to large vessel occlusion (LVO).
  • Recognize the different imaging modalities for treatment of stroke.
  • Illustrate the process of evaluation of a stroke patient in the emergency department setting by the physicians, nurses, CT and other ancillary staff.
  • Discuss the critical times and complex care of patients presenting with stroke symptoms.

    MEASUREMENT OF SUCCESS

  • Improvement in stroke core measure compliance.
  • Improvement in Get With the Guidelines-Stroke measures.
  • Improvement in cardiac measures related to door to balloon, medium time for PCI, door to door out to PCI.

    TARGET AUDIENCE

    Physicians, PAs, ARNPs, RNs, LPNs, Respiratory Therapists, Social Workers, Radiology, Speech Therapy, PTs, OTs, Cardiovascular and Stroke Team members and other interested Healthcare.Professionals.

    CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS

    All participants are required to complete and sign a "verification of attendance" form. After the program, a certificate of completion will be provided to activity participants based on documentation of actual attendance time.
